Course Description

This session is designed for existing small business owners considering applying for certification with the U.S. Small Business Administration 8(a) Business Development Program. We will teach participants how to succeed in the program understanding important considerations when partnering with other companies.

Course Outline

  • Joint Ventures (JVs) in Federal Contracting: Benefits and Risks for Small Businesses.
  • What is the SBA Mentor-Protégé Program?
  • Setting-up JVs in General: Basic Requirements and Regulations.
  • Setting-up an 8(a) JV: Process and Key Considerations.

Learner Outcomes

  • Understand How to Use Joint Ventures to Build Capacity in Federal Contracting.
  • Understand Key Considerations for Setting-up an 8(a) Joint Venture.
  • Learn about the SBA Mentor-Protégé Program.  
  • Understand the process and key considerations to set an 8(a) JV.
