Course Description

The process of terminating an employee can be one of the difficult aspects of being a manager/employer. Additionally, termination can cause legal and safety risks to the employees of the business if not done correctly. The purpose of this course is to teach our clients the best human resource management processes and procedures for termination.

Learner Outcomes

After the class, you will be able to:

  • Define, identify, and apply the four different types of termination commonly used by Human Resources Managers
  • Analyze what preparatory work will need to be done to prepare for the termination. This includes designing an appropriate exit interview with HR or the manager.
  • Determine what of the former employee’s work product remains the prevue of the company and how to protect said information.
  • Formulate a communication plan that addresses the remaining employees’ needs and preserves the company culture.
  • Identify the main government employment enforcement agencies and apply core legal concepts to their procedures regarding termination and be able to evaluate risks and concerns surrounding the termination processes.
  • Better analyze the risks and concerns surrounding workplace violence, and be able to design and execute appropriate safety policies during the process of termination of employees.
