Course Description

Are you Small Business interested in learning about routine maintenance opportunities with the Georgia Department of Transportation? Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), small business owners and veteran-owned small businesses will have the opportunity to learn about eligibility for bidding on projects funded by H.B. 170, and how to identify and respond to routine maintenance projects via the Department of Administrative Services (DOAS).

Course Outline

  • Learn about the projects funded by H.B. 170.
  • Understand the Process to become eligible to apply for Maintenance Projects with DOAS
  • Hear from the UGA Small Business Development Center staff about training and services for small businesses.
  • Hear from the GDOT District Engineer about the project forecast for GDOT Districts.
  • Hear from the District EEO Review Officer
  • Learn how to do business in GDOT Districts.
  • Learn about the Supportive Services available to DBEs, Small Businesses and Veterans on State Funded Projects

Learner Outcomes

Small Businesses will gain understanding of the process to become an approved vendor to provide services for state supported funding projects to the Georgia DOT in areas such as pavement preservation, striping, guardrail maintenance, landscaping, tree cutting and bridge repair and replacement.

  • Businesses will learn about the opportunities “right-sized” for small businesses.
  • Businesses will learn about the process to apply for approval with GDOT.
  • Businesses will learn about the supportive services available to assist them pursue opportunities with GDOT.
